Hello all... Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had an outstanding Christmas and New Years.  It felt really good to step back from the blog for a bit and just focus on my family and non-online life.  Sometimes things start feeling stagnant and you just need to regroup.  Honestly, towards the end of 2012 I started to feel anxious and a little lost about  a lot of things.  Like, all of the stress accumulated throughout the year had piled up inside me.  I don't feel like it's all just magically disappeared yet- but I do think it's time to try pushing through the yuck.    I'm not really a "resolutions" kind of person, but every new year feels like a gift- and a welcome fresh start, so I'm taking advantage of that.

My goals for 2013 are to calm down, focus my energy more efficiently, prioritize better, separate my work from my personal life (eeek!), and not allow myself to carry so much dead weight in my head.  I need to lighten my load in all aspects of my life.  I've literally lightened it by donating huge boxes of miscellaneous stuff, and of course- you guys helped so much by taking hundreds of clothing items off my hands.  Now it's time to mentally clean house.  It seems easier said than done.  Any ideas?

Welcome, 2013.  Here's to starting anew...

    Happy Happy New Year to all of you too, Coral!
    Since you asked for suggestions...i've recently been reading inspirational things like "the Secret" weekly and other inspirational 'friends' on FB like the Dalai Lama. They help me be grateful everyday for every little thing and people in my life (like you all!) and be more positive and really try to let those worrisome thoughts go as it all works out as it should in the end anyway. Grandma Becky's famous saying was "everything happens for a reason" and usually for the best. Yes, easier said than done. Make time for yourself to be at peace, like riding your horse or whatever makes you happiest. Love you lots!!!

    1. Thank you so much for these great ideas, Aunt Nickie. It means so much just to know that I have family like you, wishing me well and sending love. It's inspiring to think that with everything Grandma went through- she was still able to be optimistic and think forward. I so wish she was here.

  2. Happy New Year Coral! I definitely am experiencing a need to lighten my load... especially mentally! Have you tried meditating? I know, impossible, right? But seriously, it isn't! I made a goal to meditate every day in the year 2012 and you know what? I did it! It was hard at times, and often I was piggy-backing days where I would remember just before bedtime of midnight, but I did it and it felt good! Not only to complete something, but meditating in and of itself is the most gratifying self experience ever. Most days I only got about 10-15 minutes of pure meditation, but often times I got up to an hour! The reason I suggest meditating is because it can clear your mind and lift weights off you that you thought never could be lifted before. It gives you a sense of being one and being present with yourself. If you find it hard to do anything other than be a mommy at home, Fred at Bambu Batu offers group guided mediations one night a month. Might be a good way to start if you're interested? I hope you're able to clear up a lot of the muck and push through! 2013 will be amazing! I just know it!

    By the way, the photos are lovely, but I gotta say; the one with Elliot throwing a huge stink is just about the funniest pic Ive seen in a while! Gotta love those babies!

    1. THANK YOU so much for sharing that idea, Ashley. It sounds like you've really found a touchstone for peace and balance in meditation. Something we all need- especially when we're trying to impart those qualities on our children. I will definitely do some meditation homework. I really appreciate all the info. :)
