Loving Loly...

Designed by Lorena Vazquez, "Loly In The Sky" is a super fun line of adorable and AFFORDABLE loafers, handmade one at a time in Mexico.  I wasn't sure of what to expect from the Company, because I'd never actually seen their shoes in person- but I was so pleasantly surprised when they arrived!  They're super comfy, and really great quality.  Unlike a lot of companies who use "made with love" as a gimmicky slogan- these shoes actually do feel like they were made with big heaping doses of it.  The fun and quirky designs are really refreshing- very Charlotte Olympia, if Charlotte Olympia had a crazy-affordable line.  Yep, I'm a fan.  My biggest dilemma now will be deciding on the next pair...  Here's what I'm coveting:
HELLO SUNSHINE!
I can't think of a cuter way to shake off the Winter blues, and welcome back the sun.

An easy peasy way to dip your toes into the tuxedo trend.

And don't you forget it!

These (for obvious reasons...)!

'Cos sometimes I just need a reminder...

xo,

P.S.

Mini Street Style...

This outfit stopped me in my tracks.  Look at that neon bag paired with the rainbow leather sandals and a
STRAWBERRY ON HER SHOULDER!!!

It's school shopping season, so I've got mini fashion on the brain...  I kind of love the way Evy puts her outfits together.  Of course, I loved putting outfits together for her too - but she stopped letting me do it a couple of years ago.  Obviously I have some say since I'm the one actually buying the clothes... but honestly, I think she does a pretty great job MOST of the time.  It's so fun to see her personality coming through in fashion choices and witnessing a style emerge.  Clothing is definitely my favorite creative outlet, and (I think) the most telling...  on a good day, I'm happy and comfy in my skin - and my clothing will reflect that.  Sometimes I dress for work, and you can certainly tell that too.  On the not-so-good days, I might just stay in jammies.  Evelyn's pretty much always in something bright, and something stretchy (good for cartwheels).  She's awesome.

SLO colorful...

You guys, I am L O V I N G all the pretty and
fun hair colors people are rocking downtown lately...
and the great mix of people, styles, and ages doing it!
These were all taken in just a half hour of strolling.
Pretty in pink.
Short shades of blue.
Mom teal hair action.
Pink ponytail.
Cobalt clip-ins.
Purple roots... Wha?  How?
Pinky-peachy fun.
Pink hair/purple pants sidewalk picnic!
This lady thought she could get away...
but I spotted that blueberry do.
Oooh... magenta!
{P.S. Isn't this girl gorgeous? She reminds me of Amy
Winehouse when she was healthy and beautiful}

HAPPY WEEKEND, lovelies!!!

That elusive rockstar, Cinderella...

I know it's Summer and I should be shunning black, but I am totally feeling black lace for SS12!

When we were in San Francisco, I spotted these goooorgeous shoes in the Marc Jacobs store, and I was like... YES!   Wouldn't you feel like a rockstar Cinderella?  I love the illusion of the lace just floating around your foot.  SO lovely.  Unfortunately, I also spotted the $795 price tag- and then I was like...  Ohhh.

Jeffrey Campbell has also tried his hand at a black lace flat, with a totally different effect-
but a much kinder price tag.   Available here for $70.

Though not quite the dainty but daring Cinderella vibe of the M.J. shoe...  I'm kinda sold on this cute pair from TOMS for $58!  Even better?  They're available locally at Coalition.  YES!

girl about... glitz!

glitz_text

If it looks like Spring, and feels like Spring...

I know we're still technically in the throes of Winter- I'm reminded of this every morning when I look out the window and see that my poor little flowers have struggled through another cold night. But the days are bright, warm, and glowing. What does this have to do with the outfit post? Well, we've had the most unbelievably beautiful weather this week, that I find myself in a very Spring-y mindset! Kinda sorta. It's a hybrid... let me explain. Remember all the glitter, sequins and bedazzle we saw through the Holidays? Well, I'm secretly really excited about it still! There's that quote about glitter being the herpes of the art world- and yeah, I guess that extends to fashion, but... I can't help it.

I'm infected with sparkles!

The color Gods at Pantone tells us that Tangerine Tango is the it color for 2012, but I'm not on board with that just yet. Outside of my Rhodia notebooks, anyway...

However, I do find myself really attracted to the saturated jewel tones we normally reserve for Holiday... pops of garnet, sapphire, amethyst, emerald, chalcedony, and a little turquoise. We typically see these hues with darker pairings of satin, wool, or (that ubiquitous Holiday fabric...) velvet. For Spring I like these colors lightened up and paired with creams, cotton lace, and eyelet.

For the time being, I'm still in jeans almost every day, but I'm pairing them with sparkly shoes, lots of baubles, and overly-embellished hair accessories (like the headband and sequined barrettes seen here, by Ban.do). As the weather warms up, I'll be moving into full skirts with quirky little sweaters- like the one in this post, but I'll stick with my sparkly shoes and girly accessories at least until Summer time.

Ok, let's talk about this skirt... Dost thou eyes deceive thee? No. That, my friends, is gold lamé. Poor lamé got a really bad rap back in the 80's when it became de rigueur for horrendous ruffled, one-shouldered, Prom dresses. I know you know what I'm talking about, ladies... But I'm liberating it! I bought this vintage Esprit skirt specifically for a Holiday party- but it's just way too fabulous to be a one trick pony! Toned down for daytime with flats, a fitted sweater, and a cotton tote, the gold borders on neutral. In fact, I'm coining a new phrase right now... are you listening, Pantone? The neutral statement piece. YES! Fluorescent neutral! I actually championed for Fluorescent Neutral a couple of years ago when I solicited (unsuccessfully) for Montana Paint to rename one of their spraypaints that color. They totally missed out.

What about you... still knee-deep in Winter wear, or are you fast fowarding to Spring? The only thing I'm knee deep in right now is glitter.

Military gone soft...

Kind of adoring this feminine take on military jackets... Over florals? What a sweet way to transition from the sun-dresses of Summer to the darker palette of Fall.
